Travel & Stay

All events will take place on Galiano Island

Galiano is a small, fairly undeveloped island with a few shops and restaurants. Please be advised that having a car to get around the island is a necessity — rideshare/cabs do not really exist. If you need to rent a vehicle, we’d recommend doing so in Vancouver or at the airport.

All guests will need to take a ferry to Galiano Island (Sturdies Bay terminal). The easiest way to do this is to take the direct ferry from Tsawwassen to Galiano Island. You could also travel to Victoria first if you wanted to spend some time on Vancouver Island, then take a ferry to Galiano from Swartz Bay terminal.

The BC ferries system does get very busy in the summer and there are limited sailings to Galiano, so all guests will need to make a reservation on the ferry to guarantee you’ll make it. Even when you have a reservation, they require you to be there 30 minutes prior to sailing to hold your reservation slot.

The summer sailing schedule is not yet available for reservations, but should be up around February 15th to book. Please mark your calendars — we will also send a reminder when it is time to book. Let us know if you have any questions because the BC ferries can be a bit tricky and we would hate for anyone to miss the festivities!

Getting to Galiano

Lodging Recommendations

(please book early! - Galiano is a popular summer destination)

Hotels

Woodstone Manor

We have a block of rooms at Woodstone Manor, but unfortunately the block was limited to 6 rooms, so book early if you would like the block rate. There are 7 additional rooms at Woodstone in the event that the block is filled when you book. You can book by calling 250-539-2316 or by emailing booking@woodstonegaliano.com. Please reference the Ball/Alcock wedding when booking.

Galiano Oceanfront Inn and Spa

This is an additional option on Galiano and very easy to get to from the ferry terminal. Please book early (within the next two weeks) by emailing events@galianoinn.com and mentioning “Julia Ball’s booking” or calling the front desk and doing the same — Autumn is who we have been in contact with. They are hosting their own wedding the same weekend and were kind enough to open up some rooms to us. They have a lovely spa with massages and facials as well — we encourage booking if you’re looking for some extra relaxation!

Airbnb/Vrbo

We’ve assembled some Airbnb options for our guests. You can find them at the link below. Julia also has some VRBO options she can share if you request. For transit purposes, our preference is that guests book at Woodstone or Oceanfront Inn to streamline bus pickup and drop off and get everyone home safely and efficiently after the event.

Bed & Breakfasts

Galiano has a number of bed and breakfasts you could look into as back up as well, though we recommend trying to book one of the hotels to simplify pickup and drop off.
